Ozarks Vacation 2012

We packed up Grandma Lisa's car and headed out around lunch time last Sunday - destination: Lake of the Ozarks!  Daddy stayed back home to work for a couple of days.  We plugged in the DVD player (or the "DS" player as I call it) and watched some shows.  We drove through Wendy's for lunch, because Em was asleep and our only other pitstops were for me to use the bathroom (on the side of the road-both times!)

After arrival in Osage Beach and after quick stop to get groceries for the week, we arrived at the condo.  We were greeted by Uncle Chris, Aunt Misty, Maddi and Hudson.  Maddi was so excited to see Em and I.  After we settled in (i.e. I finally got to blow up my air mattress), we headed down to find the rest of the crew and eat some pizza for dinner (there were 28 of us split between 3 condos for the week).  After dinner, we sang Happy Birthday to Miss Em and enjoyed leftover cake and cupcakes.

The next morning we headed to the pool for a couple hours, then back to the condo for lunch and rest time and back down to the pool for a few more hours before we cleaned up for dinner.  This daily routine was repeated for most of the week until we left on Saturday morning.  It was still VERY hot (upper 90s and 100s) all week, so the pool was a nice refuge. Some of the rest of the crew spent time on the boat, enjoying the lake. Mommy and I went for a boat ride on Monday night, but Em and daddy didn't make it out on the boat this week.

Throughout the week, I became more and more brave in the swimming pool.  I used my tube, life jacket and arm bands at separate times - not all at once (this is a big step).  I walked from side to side in the pool (this is an even bigger step).  I was even jumping into the pool by the end of the week (mommy caught me) (huge step)!  Em, on the other hand, had no fear and had to wear her puddle jumper most of the time (which she made known that she didn't like).

Daddy and I went to the local Menards and bought me a fishing pole (or 'ishing pole) as I call it.  We used hot dog pieces as bait and caught a few fish off the dock.  I was in heaven!  Mommy and the rest of the girls went shopping at the outlet mall one day (the only day it was overcast and rained a little).

Our cousins Connor and Marin weren't feeling the best throughout the week and by the time we were all loading up to head home, they were feeling better-bummer!  We probably won't see them again until next summer, they live far away - in Switzerland.

We had a great time with mommy's side of the family - thanks to Uncle Chris, Aunt Misty, Maddi, Hudson, Uncle Jim, Aunt Carla and Sarah for rooming with us!  Until next time!
