Well, we did it! We moved to the new house today - yes, 2 days before Christmas!! And all beds have been made for us to sleep here tonight AND the Christmas tree is up, lighted and decorated, ready for Santa's visit tomorrow night - thanks to everyone's help throughout the day. And don't worry, we wrote a note to Santa about our change of address - we sent the note with Sam (our elf).
The move began around 9 AM (can't say that Em & I helped - we headed to Grandma Linda's for the day to get out of the way). The weather cooperated for the most part - it was a chilly start, but warmed up as the day went on.
By noon, everything from the main level of the house had been moved to the new house. After a yummy lunch made by Grandma Lisa, some of the crew stayed at the new house to assemble beds and bedrooms and the rest headed back to the old house to start moving the basement...you wouldn't believe the amount of stuff that was in the basement! (So much that another whole day was spent moving the rest of the basement!). Somebody told mommy that she probably had over $500 in storage tubs in the basement - what can I say, my mom likes to be organized!
By dinner time, a few of the boxes had been emptied (the necessities) and everything was in the correct room. Only one semi-casualty from the move - our dining room table came apart, but nothing that Pa Pete and some glue can't fix! And we are functioning without a kitchen sink and kitchen countertops - we are managing with "custom" wood door countertops and a sink hooked up in the basement.
Stay tuned for updated pictures of the house! And Happy 5th Anniversary Mommy & Daddy - what a CrAzY way to spend your day!
